Privacy

The Volt waitlist stores one email address per person and nothing else that identifies them. This site measures its visits with Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager. Everything below is the whole of it.

What does the waitlist store?

Four things, and nothing else:

  • The email address you type.
  • The time you typed it.
  • The page that sent you here — the HTTP referrer.
  • Your browser's user-agent string.

If you answer the question that follows, it also stores which features you ticked and anything you wrote in the box. If you ask for a file format on the formats page, it stores the name you searched for.

What does it not store?

Your IP address is not kept by us. The server hashes it for 300 seconds so that one machine cannot sign up two hundred times, and that hash is then thrown away. The waitlist is not sold, shared, or sent to a mailing-list provider.

Does this site measure visits?

Yes. The pages load Google Tag Manager, which loads Google Analytics. Google Analytics records which pages are visited, how you arrived, and the kind of device and browser you use, and it sets cookies — _ga and _ga_JLPMN0XGJ5 — to tell one visit from the next.

  • The measurement is configured to recognise an email address typed into a form on the page, and to send it to Google in hashed form.
  • Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.
  • The site works fully without it: block the scripts with a content blocker, or refuse cookies in your browser, and nothing here stops working.

What is the address used for?

To email you when a round of beta invitations goes out, and to decide what to build next. Nothing else. The list is not sold, shared, or sent to a mailing-list provider.

How long is it kept?

Until the beta ends or you ask for it to go, whichever comes first. Deletion requests are acted on within 7 days. The rate-limit hash lives for 300 seconds and is then gone.

How do I have it deleted?

Write to hello@volt-editor.com from the address you signed up with and it is removed the same week. You do not have to give a reason. You can also ask for a copy of everything stored against your address.

Who holds the data?

MarketVision AG, Switzerland. The list lives on the same server that serves this page. Questions: hello@volt-editor.com.

Does the application itself collect anything?

Volt does not phone home. It sends no telemetry, no crash reports and no usage statistics, and it needs no account to run. What you open stays on your machine.
